Dr. Michael Hinojosa

Dr. Michael Hinojosa is one of the nation’s most respected voices in public education leadership. A former National Superintendent of the Year and longtime leader of the Dallas Independent School District, Dr. Hinojosa has spent more than 27 years leading complex, high-profile school systems through strategic transformation.

As Founder & CEO of TNT, Dr. Hinojosa partners directly with superintendents, school boards, and community stakeholders to help districts solve their most urgent and high-stakes challenges. Known for his ability to build trust, facilitate bold action, and deliver sustainable results, Dr. Hinojosa brings not just theory, but a lifetime of hard-earned insight to the work of systemwide change.

He is widely recognized for his leadership in crisis response, equity-driven innovation, and talent development — with more than 40 former team members now serving as superintendents across the country. His latest book, published by Corwin, is Superintendent-Wise: Critical Lessons for Leading Your District.

Andrew Kim is a seasoned district leader and former Texas superintendent with deep operational expertise in school finance, accountability, and systemic improvement. With a unique ability to “rewire” school systems from the inside out, he specializes in helping districts align their budgets, personnel, and operations with instructional outcomes.

At TNT, Kim works closely with district leaders to diagnose organizational inefficiencies, coach financial leaders, and embed sustainable practices that translate dollars into results. His work is especially valued by CFOs, superintendents, and board members navigating budget shortfalls, declining enrollment, and post-pandemic recalibration.

A first-generation immigrant and former teacher, Andrew brings both empathy and precision to every engagement. His systems thinking, problem-solving mindset, and financial fluency make him an indispensable guide for districts facing tough decisions and urgent fiscal realities.

Dr. Barbara Jenkins is a nationally acclaimed education leader with over three decades of experience driving systemic transformation in public education. As the former Superintendent of Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) — the eighth-largest district in the United States — she led 206,000 students and managed a $5.5 billion annual budget. Under her leadership, OCPS achieved a record 97% graduation rate for traditional high schools and garnered prestigious accolades, including the Broad Prize for Urban Education and the Governor’s Sterling Award. Jenkins is a recipient of the Baldridge Foundation Award for Leadership.

At TNT, Dr. Jenkins advises superintendents and leadership teams on strategic planning, governance, and organizational excellence. Her expertise lies in aligning educational outcomes with operational efficiency, fostering leadership development, and implementing sustainable reforms that outlast individual tenures.

Beyond her district leadership, Dr. Jenkins is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of education leaders. She serves as a Chief in Residence at Chiefs for Change, leading the Women in Leadership initiative, and holds board positions with the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and other national organizations.

Dr. Scott Muri is a nationally recognized leader in K–12 innovation, digital transformation, and school system improvement. As Superintendent of Ector County ISD in Texas, he led one of the most comprehensive turnaround efforts in the state, focusing on teacher pipeline development, technology access, and student outcomes. Under his leadership, the district dramatically increased student achievement and broadband availability, launched innovative staffing models, and earned recognition as one of the country’s most improved urban school systems.

Prior to his role in Ector County, Dr. Muri served as Superintendent of Spring Branch ISD (TX), Deputy Superintendent for Fulton County Schools in Georgia, and Chief Information Officer for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in North Carolina. Across these roles, he has led major initiatives to personalize learning, close equity gaps, and modernize public education systems.

At TNT, Dr. Muri advises school district leaders on challenges related to innovation, teacher and staff retention, technology access and school turnaround initiatives, among other issues. Dr. Muri began his career as a teacher and principal and has held executive roles in curriculum and technology. He is a frequent speaker on leadership, talent, and innovation in education.

Benjamin Mackey is a nationally recognized expert in school governance and leadership alignment. A former teacher, high school principal, assistant superintendent and current school board trustee, Mackey brings unmatched insight into how boards, superintendents, and leadership teams can work together to drive consistent, system-level success.

At TNT, Mackey helps districts build strong leadership coalitions, clarify decision-making roles, and ensure that priorities outlast political cycles and personnel changes. His approach centers on building durable systems that empower the people doing the work — not just the people in charge.

Mackey has led systemic improvement efforts in both high-poverty and high-performing districts, with a track record of raising student outcomes by aligning governance structures with instructional goals. He is widely regarded for his listening-first approach, pragmatic mindset, and ability to create conditions for real progress.
